cat.

So Minions 2 and 3 went to Grandma's for most of the weekend, and for once I didn't have a pile of housework to do during my free time, so I was finally able to get this rag quilt finished!
I've planned a whole series of these, next up I think will be frog...or bird..or dog..or oooh...robot! ok, so I really don't know yet LOL!

I used a different quilting style on each row, my favorites are the connected boxes, Loopdy loos, meandering stipple (because it isn't tiny for once!) and the diamonds..ok so really I liked them all..and now I have a better idea of where I need to concentrate my free motion practice.

This will be listed in my Etsy shop later.

Show and Tell fridays 8

Well what do you know? I got to sew some this week!

No finish on the baby quilt yet, but I was able to get a couple of Back Sacks made. I only have pictures of the one I listed on eBay, As my youngest absconded with his Simpsons fabric one as soon as it was finished. So here's my Teen or adult version of the back sacks:

And for those of you waiting for the Picture frame results, they are coming..I just need to get the pics taken. Oh! I also can't wait to show you all the Dresser transformation Hubby and I did together! I'll be linking up to Amy's Blog for Show and Tell Fridays..you really should take a few minutes to check out the other amazing projects!

Sew and Tell Fridays 7

Still not a lot getting accomplished in the sewing department here, but my house is getting organized so I'm not complaining (Ok, so maybe I feel like whinging about it, but I'll get over it LOL)!

A couple of Mother's Day gifts~
For My MIL Personalized fabric basket:

My Mom also got a personalized basket, and I also put together a quick and easy runner to match the basket and other items I've been making for her bedroom decor. Both baskets were filled with other small gifts to fit each Mom's tastes.

The only other sewing for this past week beside mending was this little pillow..It was gifted to the Boys' RAP instructor for her Baby that is due soon
Don't forget to head over to Amy's blog to check out the other talented ladies in our show and tell party!

Joining in on the fun

Kelly and the gang from the Charming Guys and Girls blogs are "sharing stash" and while I'm still actively working on organizing and cleaning my office/studio, I'm going to join in on the fun :)

This is my "closet" Hubby built for me, it's 6' x 7' and no..I don't think I could fit any more fabric in there without super strength LOL!Anything more than a yard gets hung on a hanger here.

There are cup hooks on the outside end for unfinished quilty things, right now there is a top, a pinned quilt, a top and backing that needs pinned, my topper for the living room (yep, still waiting to be finished!) and an Easter runner that needs binding. Those 3 bags hold other projects..they are only there temporarily until they have a home of their own.
This dresser holds my smaller cuts of fabrics that are bigger than 13" x WOF, They are bolted on Hardboard that hubby cut to fit the drawers and are actually organized by color!
This dresser hold most of my flannels, they are just folded any which way I could get them to fit right now.
Some recent acquisitions (PEZ!!) and a few pieces I cut off of some yardage to be destashed sit on top of that dresser
Along with my buttons, and other hardware & bits n bobs, some patterns and my remnants
Under my cutting table are several plastic totes with fabric and the last of my handbag interfacing (note to self: time to order more soon!)
And in the interest of keeping it pseudo-real, here's a basket full of recently washed but still need pressed and sorted fabrics.
I use the term pseudo-real quite simply because this isn't all of my fabric by any means of the imagination..there's at least this much MORE in the basement, and still a bit in the dining room to be brought in, but if I don't clean out and organize in smaller doses it's too much and I end up doing nothing and the mess drives me (and Hubby) crazy and I get a bit psycho (really..just ask the menfolk LOL)

So there you have it, my insanity..err..stash.
You can now say you've had the 5 cent tour of the mind of a mad woman LOL!!!

Busy days..

It seems everyone has a lot going on right now, Amy has a gorgeous new little one to snuggle (Congratulations Amy and Family!!) Amanda Jean has rejoined us in blogland (Welcome back Amanda Jean!!) There's yard work and gardening, sew ins and parties, and many other goings on!

I know we have been keeping busy here.

Hubby's been putting the power tools to good use, building us some goodies and pitching (ok, so he's done most of it LOL) in on the Great Dresser rehab (pictures and details when it's finished..Promise!) I've been doing lots of painting, cleaning and organizing, and a bit of sewing when I can grab a few minutes!
Some of the projects that Yours Truly has accomplished lately ;)
To send up to Polkadot Pandas;
I just finished making this gift bag for our Niece's Birthday party tomorrow:

And I painted this yard sale-d frame using Krylon watermelon and glazed (Ralph Lauren glaze in Smoke..LOVE!) the very outside edges to give an aged effect. Add a had to have clearance print and you have a budget friendly piece of art for your wall!
Here's a break down of the cost:
Paint: $2.97
Frame: $1.00
Print: $3.99
Glaze: $0.00-on hand
Total: $7.96

Check back soon to see these dated dollar store frames transformed with just a bit of paint and a little help from Ralph!
I'm linking up to Amy's blog, be sure to check out the other Sew and Tell Friday bloggers, there's so many talented people involved every week!
